The Northwest Mississippi Community College Foundation has officially announced the date for the Northwest Soiree. The event will be held March 29, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Heindl Center for the Performing Arts. This is the third annual Soiree, which benefits the students of Northwest Mississippi Community College. Last year the Soiree raised $130,362 for students.
The Northwest Soiree is a formal event, and this year's theme is Masquerade Among the Stars. The Soiree is a night filled with fun that offers games, entertainment, and hors d'oeuvres.
At the Northwest Soiree, four awards will be given at the formal event ranging from professional achievement to contribution to Northwest and their communities.
The first honoree is Dr. Robert Barnes, who is receiving the Young Alumni Professional Achievement Award for his outstanding success as a medical physician. He is a board-certified internal medicine physician who focuses on primary care and is located at the Panola Medical Center in Batesville.
Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Robert "Bobby" Chamberlin is the recipient of the Alumni Professional Achievement Award. Justice Chamberlin has been serving the 17th Circuit since November of 2016. A native of Hernando, he attended Northwest in the 1970s before going on to study at the University of Mississippi.
Winner of the Spirit of Northwest Award goes to Dr. Ed Field who has supported the college tremendously. Dr. Field is an orthopedic physician who has received many awards for his accomplishments such as the Ole Miss Sports Medicine Award, the Southeastern Athletic Trainers Association Sports Medicine Person of the Year and the Mississippi Valley State University Commitment of Excellence Award. He serves as a physician for various institutions.
The Organization of the Year Award goes to Panola Partnership. Their mission is to encourage, foster and stimulate growth of commerce in Panola County. Their hope is to help their communities to continue to grow by helping businesses and industries prosper increasing economic and career opportunities to improve the region's workforce skills and education.
