TURNING POINT WELCOMES NYC BASED RECORDING ARTIST DAPHNE WILLIS ON FIRST STOP OF RECOVERY TOUR AROUND THE COUNTRY

SOUTHAVEN, Miss (March 22, 2019) -- Turning Point patients, staff and alumni will welcome Daphne Willis, a Sony published artist, to the campus on March 22 as part of her recovery concert tour across the nation.

Daphne Willis, an indie artist based in New York City living in recovery herself, uses her songwriting and musical talents to raise awareness about the dangers of addiction and shed light on mental illness throughout our communities.

“It took a long time for me to be able to talk about it openly. The more I talk to people, especially being an artist, the more I push myself to talk about it publicly as well,” said Willis. “People started reaching out to me and wanting to talk to me about their stories.”

Addiction Campuses provides a number of different programs to treat addiction at each of its nationwide campuses, including music. Patients are given the opportunity to enhance their musical talents or find new talent in a program that suits their interests.

“Music can play an integral part in someone’s path to recovery. A lot of times, if you put your feelings down on paper, it helps you to put in perspective the damage that addiction is causing,“ said Rodney Harrison, a Berklee College of Music graduate and an Addiction Campuses’ Music Instructor. “That’s when you can start making better decisions in your life.”

Daphne will spend the day visiting with patients, sitting in groups and close by playing an acoustic set for the patients, alumni and community. The event is open to the public and staff will be on hand to give tours of the facility on March 22 as well. Music will begin at 2:15PM with Brannon Heath followed by Daphne Willis at 3:15PM.

Turning Point is a drug and alcohol treatment facility located in Southaven, Mississippi. Therapists at the facility specialize in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and use a number of different activities to help someone not only treat their addiction but any underlying issues as well.

Other stops on the tour include the Dallas, Texas area; Sherrodsville, Ohio; and Cummington, Massachusetts. In conjunction with the tour, Daphne will also release her new album with songs centering around mental health and addiction.

If you are interested in chatting with Daphne or staff from Turning Point, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Office of Public Relations at media@addictioncampuses.com.
